Update: Apple iCloud Email Now Back To Normal After Widespread Outage

Apple's iCloud email service is being hit by sporadic outages, with users unable to send or receive messages with their @me.com accounts.

It seems to be intermittent and reports of problems have come mainly from the US, Canada and Europe. Other iCloud services, like syncing, appear unaffected.

Apple has acknowledged the problem and has posted a status update:

More than 85m people have signed up for Apple's iCloud services since it was launched in October 2011.

You can keep tabs on repair progress at Apple Support.

Yesterday, Google's Gmail system was also disrupted by widespread outages.

Update: Apple seems to have fixed the problem and iCloud email services appear to be back to normal.
