Qualcomm Supply Problems Could Hit Launch Of iPhone 5?

San Diago-based Qualcomm has warned it's expecting trouble meeting demand for its smartphone chips for the rest of 2012. It blames "manufacturing constraints".

It's widely expected that Apple is planning to use a Qualcomm 4G chip in the next-generation iPhone - as it has in the new iPad - and it's possible supply problems could push back a launch date, predicted to be around October.

Qualcomm says it's spending extra money to try to keep up with demand and Chief Financial Officer, Bill Keitel, says they'll try to keep customers happy:
"Demand went so far ahead of availability that we've decided to start spending more money to get more supply as soon as possible," he told Reuters. "Any time we can't make a customer totally happy I'm going to worry. You don't want to give a customer a reason to go elsewhere."
