Britain's biggest-selling newspaper, The Sun, has confirmed plans to put its website behind a paywall - probably in the second half of 2013.
It says continuing to provide a free site is "untenable". The Sun's News International stablemates, The Times and The Sunday Times are already subscription-only.
The move follows the announcement that the Daily Telegraph is to start charging a subscription, although non-payers will be allowed to read 20 articles a month.
The UK's most-viewed newspaper website, Mail Online, is free and is banking on income from web ads.
