Google "delivers cease and desist order to Microsoft over YouTube app"

It's reported that Google is telling Microsoft to withdraw its latest YouTube app from the Windows Phone Store.

The Verge says it's seen a cease and desist letter from Google to Microsoft.
The Verge has obtained a copy of a cease and desist letter that Google has sent to Microsoft recently, demanding that Microsoft "immediately withdraw this application from the Windows Phone Store and disable existing downloads of the application by Wednesday, May 22, 2013."

The WP8 app was updated earlier this month and new features included the ability to download videos and the blocking of YouTube ads.

It's these two features that have angered Google, which owns YouTube.
"Unfortunately, by blocking advertising and allowing downloads of videos, your application cuts off a valuable ongoing revenue source for creators, and causes harm to the thriving content ecosystem on YouTube."
Google itself still refuses to release an official YouTube app for Windows Phone.

The free app is still in the Windows Phone store at the time of writing...so get downloading.
