Windows Phone Store now tops 300,000 apps

Microsoft says the Windows Phone Store now has more than 300,000 apps. That's up from 200,000 six month ago.

The perceived lack of apps compared with Apple and Android is one of Microsoft's major problems when trying to persuade smartphone users to switch to Windows Phone operating system.

Most of the major app players are now covered in the store - if not by official apps then by good quality third-party ones.

But in pure numbers, Windows Phone is still lagging.

Apple now has more than a million apps and Android tops 1.3-million, although a significant number are low-quality offerings.
