Microsoft scraps Windows Phone Dev Centre annual fees, now $19 for life

Microsoft has scrapped annual subscription fees for the Windows Phone Development Centre.

The fees were $19 a year for individual developers and $99 for companies. These have been replaced with one-off joining fees of $19 and £99.

Membership of the Centre lets developers get their apps into the Windows Phone Store and manage app revenue.

It also allows anyone who joins to download the Preview for Developers app, which lets you get preview updates of the Windows Phone operating system.

Current Dev Centre members will not be charged again and their memberships will be converted automatically from annual to lifetime.
