How to deregister your phone number from Apple iMessage

Apple's proprietary texting system is iMessage and it's great while you're using an iPhone.

But if you get rid of your phone, you can find text messages mysteriously disappearing.

It's because your old phone - and not your mobile number - is still linked to the iMessage system and if you're sent a text message from another iPhone, it will automatically convert it into an iMessage text and push it out to your old phone - now passed on to your grandmother/son/daughter/eBay.

You can deregister from iMessage in iPhone settings, but that's not much good if you've already got rid of your phone.

Until now.

Apple has been forced to launch a webpage that lets ex-iPhone users deregister from iMessage.

Here's the link.
