Electronics giant Cisco is to launch a formal legal challenge to Microsoft's planned £5.4bn takeover of Skype.
Cisco fears Microsoft plans to embed Skype video calling in its Windows PC, tablet and mobile phone operating systems, effectively blocking other video calling methods.
In October, the European Union ruled the takeover was not anti-competitive, but Cisco is arguing that conditions need to be imposed on the deal to protect other video-calling systems.
Skype claims 650m users worldwide.
