Google unveils Nexus 6 Android smartphone - at a price. It'll cost $649

Google has at last unveiled the latest in the up-until-now excellent Nexus line of Android smartphones.

The Motorola-manufactured Nexus 6 will cost $649, which will probably translate to more than £600 in the UK.

The price blasts out the water Google's previous policy of selling the Nexus at little more than cost price.

It takes the 5.9" phablet into the premium-priced iPhone bracket.

Which doesn't make sense when you compare it with the 6" Nokia Lumia 1520, which can be bought for less than £400 and more than matches the Nexus 6.

Bye bye Google Nexus line....it was good knowing you.
